TOPEKA, Kan. (Aug. 10, 2022) – Austin Prock and the Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist Chevrolet dragster enter this weekend’s Menards NHRA Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park sitting ninth in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series Points standings. With just three races left before the Countdown to the Championship, NHRA’s six race playoffs, Prock will be looking for a strong performance to help finish the regular season off on a high note and set his team up for a run at the 2022 championship.

Prock will celebrate his birthday on August 21 and is looking for an early birthday present at the Menards NHRA Nationals, a race in which he qualified third and reached the semifinals in his only previous appearance in 2019.

“I’m ready to get back on the road. I feel like this Montana Brand Rocky Mountain Twist team left off on a good foot at the end of the Western Swing in Seattle. We made a competitive run during qualifying to start the weekend off and that’s where we’ve been lacking, it’s where we need to improve,” Prock said. “Hopefully we can qualify in the top half this weekend in Topeka at Heartland Motorsports Park and have a much-needed long Sunday.”

A breakthrough first win at Seattle in 2019 propelled the third generation drag racer to NHRA Rookie-of-the-Year honors before the COVID-19 pandemic briefly sidetracked his pro career.  He is racing a full schedule in the Montana Brand/Rocky Mountain Twist dragster for the first time in three years and started the 2022 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series off strong with a runner-up finish at the season-opening Winternationals. He has since had a No. 2 qualifying spot at the Virginia Nationals where he also reached the semifinals. He followed up his Virginia performance with another semifinal finish at the New England Nationals.

Competition at the Menards NHRA Nationals at Heartland Motorsports Park begins with qualifying on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 and 6:00 p.m. with eliminations Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Television coverage of the event will begin with qualifying on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET and Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 (FS1). For eliminations, the broadcast will switch to FOX Broadcasting Network on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
