BROWNSBURG, Ind (Aug. 27, 2025) – Austin Prock and the John Force Racing Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car team have been dominant throughout the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing and there won’t be any letup in the Aug. 27-Sept. 1 Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park … especially if the reigning event/series champion and current points leader has anything to say about it.
Notes
- The Lansing, Mich., native brings a 242-point lead into the final race of the regular season, with his closest competitor being John Force Racing teammate Jack Beckman.
- Prock has earned six wins this season, back-to-back at Las Vegas and Charlotte, back to back again in Virginia and Ohio, and the previous two races in Sonoma and Brainerd.
- The Jimmy Prock/Thomas Prock/Nate Hildahl-led team has also earned four No. 1 Qualifier positions, at Pomona, New England, Bristol, and Seattle.
- The 2024 Funny Car Champion has two wins in this season’s #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, at Charlotte and Seattle in six appearances.
- The 2024 NHRA Funny Car Champion earned last year’s U.S. Nationals title in his rookie season.
- Prock has three previous U.S. Nationals starts, all in a John Force Racing Top Fuel dragster. He made it to the semifinals in 2019 and went out in the first round in both 2022 and 2023.
- JFR drivers have won 15 times at Indy — 14 times in Funny Car and once in Top Alcohol Dragster (Ashley in 2004). In 1993 and 1996, John won both the US Nationals and the Funny Car bonus race (at the time, the Big Bud Shootout). In 2004, Gary Densham, won both the U.S. Nationals and the Skoal Showdown driving a JFR Funny Car with Jimmy Prock as crew chief. (I’m giving you that info, just in case).
- Cornwell Tools has gotten creative in their support of Task Force Rahal (TFR).
- They will donate $350 for each 84” Platinum Series and 79” ARCA Series toolbox they sell during their 6-week Veteran’s Day promotion (10/23-12/7)
- They have donated one of these 84” Platinum Series boxes in a patriotic theme to Task Force Rahal ($17k value)
- Donating to Task Force Rahal is still the goal. Beginning with this event, every donation of at least $100 will be entered to win the Cornwell Tools toolbox. TFR will select a winner during our final race of the season in Pomona.
Austin Prock Quotes
Is there added pressure competing in the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals?
The U.S. Nationals is special. There’s definitely added pressure. It’s a long weekend, it’s a home race for everybody so there’s always a lot of distractions. There’s a lot of family and friends who come to watch you so it definitely does feel a little bit different. But I try to just kind of think about it as a normal race. You don’t want to over-amp yourself or get caught up in those distractions. I felt like I did a good job of that last year, just focusing and trying to do the best of my abilities and it ended up working out.
Talk about momentum heading into the Cornwell Quality Parts U.S. Nationals.
You know, I feel like we have some good momentum and, hopefully, we can go in there and win some more cash. There’s a lot of money on the line this weekend, with the regular season championship, the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge, and the Funny Car Call-Out. Then throw in competing in the U.S. Nationals on top of that so I’m excited for the big weekend.
What about Austin Prock has changed as a driver where is where was he then where is he now?
I’m I feel like I’m in a fairly similar position. I’m still hungry to win. I’m still excited to be a part of the Cornwell Tools team. I’m still excited to drive the race cars. This is my passion and this is what I love to do so maybe I’m a little bit hungrier nowadays. We got the taste of victory last year and it was really the first time in my career where I’ve had substantial success over a season. I feel like, coming into this year, I’m really hungry to continue that you know and and continue our family legacy like what we did with our family last year was something really special and I wanna try and keep that up as as long as we can and to do that you know we need to go out and when the US nationals and you know, try and go after another world championship
