BROWNSBURG, IND. (Aug. 30, 2025) – John Force Racing’s Brittany Force and Jack Beckman maintained their top qualifying spots in Top Fuel and Funny car as a result of their performances in Friday night’s session, while Austin Prock moved up two spots, from 12th to 10th, Saturday afternoon with now three of five qualifying rounds completed for the Cornwell Quality Tools U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park.

No competitor in either category came close to the laps made Friday under the lights by Force and the Cornwell Quality Tools Top Fuel Dragster (3.666 seconds at 339.79 mph) and Beckman (3.865 seconds at 332.26 mph) in the Brute Force PEAK Chevrolet SS Funny Car. Prock was forced to click off early in Friday’s run so Saturday’s first run of 3.939 seconds at 324.90 mph established a baseline for the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car team to build on.

All three John Force Racing drivers qualified for the final Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge of the 2025 season but none were able to make it into the winner’s circle. Force’s run went up in smoke just after the 60-foot mark and Beckman’s Chevrolet blew out plug just before half track, forcing him to abort the run. Prock easily won his first round but, in the final against J.R. Todd, the reigning U.S. Nationals Champion red-lit for only the second time in six seasons.

“I haven’t looked at the computer yet with the crew chiefs but we just pulled the tires loose out there. There was an oil down on the right lane earlier. They cleaned it up, put the dragging machines out there but I don’t know if they rotated around to the left lane, which typically is better here. That session actually looked like nearly all the real quick runs came out of the right lane, but it was our lane choice to pick from.

“But maybe that’s the case of losing the battle to win the war. A lot of times you don’t know how far too far it is until you step over that line and we clearly stepped over that line. The next run will be for data, and then we’re going to gear up for Sunday because those two runs will be in the Funny Car Call-Out and that’s going to be a big deal.”

Qualifying Rd. 3

“I really felt like an idiot. It blew a spark plug out at 450 feet, went way over to the right. I cranked the wheel all the way left, and it took a while for my brain to tell my right foot ‘you can shut off. You’re qualified No. 1.’ The happy result of that is we got a bonus point for being fourth quick of the session there. Hopefully, I didn’t beat the car up too much. I’m sure the crew chiefs will let me know if I did. It wasn’t the run that we wanted it to be but he silver lining is we got it out of the way today and we got data. So tomorrow, our first run, we’re lined up for the Funny Car Call-Out. That’s a big deal. And we also want, in addition to those win lights, data for Monday. We’re chipping away at it. I think when we’re talking Monday afternoon in the winner circle, all this will be just fine.”

“It was unfortunate that our Cornwell Quality Tools dragster didn’t make it down to the end in the Mission Challenge. It just drove into smoke. We had too much in it. We were trying to run a low 70 and it was just it was too much. We needed to slow it down a little bit more to get it down there.”

Qualifying Rd. 3

“Our Q3 run was a good one. The Cornwell Quality Tools dragster went 3.77 seconds, which I believe was second quickest of the session, so we picked up some bonus points. We’re still currently qualified No. 1 and the great thing is we still have all day tomorrow to get two more runs down the track before race day.

“Our goal is to come in here and try to sweep the weekend. So, we’re giving us an opportunity to do that being in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty final round and, hopefully, we can get the job done. That was a nice run. I think we were looking for a little bit more out there, but the Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS left a little slow and had a few holes out down track … multiple holes, actually. But it was good start. I’m excited to be in the final and, hopefully, we can round up some points and take home that cash money.”

Mission Challenge Final

“I lit the first bulb and my foot went even though my brain didn’t tell it to go. It was the second time in six years that I’ve ever red-lit so I’m obviously frustrated with myself but it’s going to happen at a professional level. There was a lot on the line there and maybe I was a little bit too amped up. I felt like we were going up there to make a good run to get in the top half (of the 16-car eliminations field), and Mission Challenge points on the line, and money on the line, and I just overstepped my boundaries. I’ll get it together. I’ve been practicing on the tree since I got back to the pits. So, yeah, I’ll get it out of my head and go up there tomorrow.”
