DEJORIA LOOKS FOR 3 STRONG SHOTS AT 4-WIDE

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (APRIL 22, 2026) – Alexis DeJoria has already checked the boxes as the No. 1 Qualifier and runner-up finisher in the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals so she and her John Force Racing Bandero Café Chevrolet SS Funny Car team are poised to accomplish the ultimate goal April 24-26 at zMax Dragway outside Charlotte, N.C.

The six-time NHRA Funny Car event winner earned the top qualifying spot at the 2016 4-Wide Nationals and she finished runner-up in 2023 to three-time NHRA Funny Car Champion Robert Hight (for John Force Racing), finishing ahead of three-time champion Ron Capps and 16-time champion John Force in the final matchup.

Two weeks ago, at Pomona, DeJoria easily captured the first round victory with a run of 3.906 seconds to a tire-smoking Dave Richards. In Round 2, she grabbed the holeshot (.065 to .073) against eventual event runner-up and three-time NHRA Funny Car World Champion Ron Capps, but lost traction shortly into the run. She pedaled the throttle but Capps took the win with a run of 3.884 seconds.

DeJoria is currently seventh in the 2026 Funny Car standings after a runner-up finish in the season-opener at Gainesville, first round exit at Phoenix and second-round finish at Pomona.

DeJoria and the Bandero Café team qualified to compete in this weekend’s Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge on the strength of their quarterfinals finish in Pomona. The event will take place as part of Saturday’s qualifying runs scheduled for 12:50 p.m. and 3:20 p.m.

The unofficial 2026 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series Funny Car point standings after three of 20 races are: Ron Capps, 251; Matt Hagan, 251; JR Todd, 224; Chad Green, 223; Jordan Vandergriff, 205; Spencer Hyde, 189; Alexis DeJoria, 184; Daniel Wilkerson, 138; Paul Lee, 133; Jack Beckman, 119.

Quotes

What would it mean to win the 4-Wide Nationals at zMax Dragway?

“I’ve always been a fan of 4-wide racing so I’m feeling pretty confident heading to Charlotte. The 4-Wide Nationals is a race I’ve always wanted to win and we’ve come close a few times in the final quad, including last year, and especially the runner-up finish in 2023. The Bandero team has what it takes to win and this weekend we could seal the deal.”

Assess your season so far: three races in, seventh in points and basically just one round out of fifth?

“Consistency is the key and it’s something we’re continuing to build on as the season continues. We made the final round at Gainesville, had a setback at Phoenix but came back strong with consistent three-second runs at Pomona. We’re a new team and it’s a long season but we’re right in the thick of the points battle so we’ll just keep grinding.”
