BRITTANY FORCE AND MONSTER ENERGY LOCKED-IN FOR PEPBOYS NHRA ALL-STAR CALLOUT AT RAINY NHRA GATORNATIONALS

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Mar. 11, 2022) – Qualified in the No. 2 position, Brittany Force and the Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac team had the opportunity to callout their opponent for the first round of the Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout being held as a race within a race at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals. The David Grubnic and Mac Savage led team made careful calculations before choosing to take on Antron Brown in the first round on Saturday.

After persistent rain, racing Friday at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals was cancelled. The top eight drivers in Top Fuel did, however, get to callout their first-round opponents for the first-of-its-kind Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout taking place throughout qualifying Saturday.

“Here in Gainesville, unfortunately it’s raining, but the top eight drivers in Top Fuel, we got to go up on stage and call each other out. I was second in line and had the opportunity so, with some team meetings, we called out Antron Brown. Pretty exciting stuff. He’s an awesome sport. We got on stage and messed around and did some fun interviews together,” Force said. “We want to win this race within a race in Gainesville, win the $80,000 and that big trophy for the first callout style shootout NHRA has had. We also want to try and qualify well. We’re hoping the rain lets up and we get some runs in tomorrow and ultimately get set up for race day.”

Force will be racing for her first win in a shootout competition. From 2013 to 2017, Force qualified four times for what was then the Traxxas Shootout held at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Robert Hight and the Automobile Club of Southern California Chevrolet Camaro SS team will be racing for their third consecutive victory while John Force and the PEAK/ BlueDEF PLATINUM Chevy are looking to add their ninth victory at historic Gainesville Raceway. Austin Prock is hoping to become the third generation of the Prock family to reach the final round of the Gatornationals in his Montana Brand / Rocky Mountain Twist dragster.

Racing at the Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatornationals will pick up Saturday with round one of the Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout serving as the second qualifying session of Top Fuel at 11:45 a.m. and will be immediately followed by the rest of nitro qualifying.  The final session of qualifying will include the second round of the Pep Boys Call out at 1:30 p.m. and the regular Top Fuel session at 2:45 p.m. The finals of the Callout are at 3:15 p.m. and will be immediately followed by the Funny Car qualifying at 3:20 p.m. Gatornationals eliminations are slated for 11 a.m. on Sunday.
