BAYTOWN, Texas (April 21, 2022) – Brittany Force and the Monster Energy / Flav-R-Pac team are on a roll as they enter this weekend’s NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park. Coming off a powerful performance that led to their first victory of the season, the David Grubnic and Mac Savage tuned Monster Energy team will be looking to make a habit out of winning at the fifth event of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing season, and the last at Houston Raceway Park.
Force and the Monster Energy team started 2022 off strong, they secured the 33rd No. 1 qualifying position of Force’s career at the season-opening Winternatioanls, were quickest during the warmest run of qualifying at the Arizona Nationals and won the first-round of the Pep Boys NHRA All-Star Callout at the Gatornationals, securing the No. 2 qualifying spot with the third fastest run in Top Fuel history. The Monster Energy team capitalized on their consistency and hard work at the most recent event, the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with a dominant victory. The 12th win of Force’s career was her first at the spring Vegas race and set her up to enter this weekend’s SpringNationals sitting a measly four points out of the lead.
“We’re coming off a win in Las Vegas and our Monster Energy, Flav-R-Pac team heads to Houston this weekend still on such a high,” said Force. “There’s this momentum after a win that excites and motivates the entire team to get to the next race and chase down another win. Houston Raceway Park has carried my team to a winners circle two times in my career and we’re looking for back-to-back wins at Houston’s final NHRA nationals event. Looking forward to seeing what this team can pull off.”
Force returns to Houston Raceway Park, where she won the SpringNationals back-to-back in 2018 and 2019. It is the only event in the NHRA series in which she has more than a single victory. Brittany set the current track records of 3.661-seconds, 332.18 mph on April 12, 2019. She is the ET record holder at 10 of the 17 tracks that currently host events in the Camping World series and the speed record holder at eight. Coming off an emotional win in the Las Vegas Four-Wide, she will be trying to win back-to-back events for the first time in her career in her Monster Energy/Flav-R-Pac dragster.
The NHRA SpringNationals at Houston Raceway Park kickoff Friday night with the first round of qualifying at 7 p.m. CT. Qualifying continues with sessions at 2 and 5:15 p.m. CT. Eliminations are scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. Television coverage will be on FOX Sports 1 (FS1) beginning Friday night at 7 p.m. ET. A second qualifying show will air Sunday at 10:30 a.m. before eliminations at 7:30 p.m. ET.
