BROWNSBURG, Ind. (Nov. 12, 2025) – Austin Prock and his John Force Racing Cornwell Tools Chevrolet SS Funny Car team roll into In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragway for the Nov. 13-16 In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals with the exact same approach they started the season with back in March at Gainesville: turn on the win light every pass down the track and take home a second consecutive NHRA Funny Car Championship.

The reigning champion has a 101-point lead on the strength of nine event wins, three runner-up finishes and seven No. 1 qualifying positions in the previous 19 races of the 2025 season. Those stats merely add to last year’s championship stats when he won eight races, finished runner-up four times, and was the No. 1 Qualifier a record 15 times … in his rookie Funny Car season.

The 2025 NHRA Funny Car point standings heading into the season finale are: Austin Prock, 2,594; Matt Hagan, 2,493; Jack Beckman, 2,416; Ron Capps, 2,370; Daniel Wilkerson, 2,369; Paul Lee, 2,289; Chad Green, 2,288; Cruz Pedregon, 2,283; Spencer Hyde, 2,272; Bob Tasca III (2,264).

Notes

  • No matter what Matt Hagan does, Prock can wrap up his second straight championship by reaching the semifinals at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals.
  • Prock had earned the No. 1 qualifier in his last two appearances at Pomona and is the track record holder for ET (3.804 seconds) and speed (341.68 mph), standards he established at last year’s Finals.  The speed is the national record as well.
  • John Force Racing drivers have won 34 times at Pomona … 31 times in Funny Car, twice in Top Fuel (Brittany Force, 2017; Austin Prock, 2022) and once in Top Alcohol Dragster (Ashley Force Hood, 2004) … 15 of those wins have come in the Finals.

Quotes

With a win and four runner-up finishes at Pomona since just 2019, what is it that’s created the strong list of runs there so early in your career?

“I’ve got a pretty good streak of efforts there. Obviously, I’d like all those runner-up finishes to be wins but our package in both Top Fuel and in Funny Car has been really good there and that place has a special place in my heart. As a kid growing up around the sport, it was always a treat to go out to Pomona, California, and see my dad or family race for a world championship. I’d be plenty happy with at least a runner-up finish there this year to solidify us as world champion so, hopefully, we can have another strong effort there this year.”

Have you put the runner-up finish at Las Vegas behind you or are you using it as is fuel for Pomona?

“Well, it definitely stung not getting the win. Like I said afterward, that would’ve wrapped pretty much wrapped up the championship. So, the fact that we have to go into Pomona and make sure we don’t stumble is a little bit more stressful than we’d like, but we still do have a 101-point lead.  In any other circumstance that you rolled into Pomona with a 101-point lead, you’d be ecstatic, but the fact that we had the opportunity to just put it to bed and we missed it just stinks. But it is behind us. All we can do is just keep moving forward. I mean, what we did at Dallas was exactly what we needed to. We just missed the final little cherry on top. Matt Hagan’s team did an outstanding job. I had a gut feeling rolling in there that morning that we were going to have to go to the finals because Hagan was going to the finals and it worked out just how I thought it would and just come up short. That was just one of those runs that just wasn’t meant to be. I feel like if we could drag it back up there, it would go right down the racetrack, so I don’t think we need to change our approach or anything.”

What would it mean to you and your team to win back-to-back championships?

“It would be huge, and it would put me in a pretty elite group of NHRA drivers to win back-to-back championships. I think there’s only seven pro drivers that have ever done it, or I would be the seventh, so that’s a pretty huge accolade that would really boost my career. But it’s every guy on this team. Everyone but one is the same as last year so to add that to their résumé would be unbelievable. I’m really proud of the team and the fact that we even are in the talk of becoming two-time world champs Is pretty incredible. I thought a lot last week in Las Vegas that the pressure you feel when you’re racing for these championships is a privilege. Kids just dream of trying to be in a position like this and the fact that we’re looking at possible back -to-back years is a pretty cool feeling.”

What are your thoughts about Brittany Force as a teammate and what she’s meant to the NHRA?

“She’s huge in NHRA. She’s got the last name, she’s the winningest female in the in the history of Top Fuel and is a two-time world champion and she’s been a great teammate to me. I don’t know what driving one of these race cars is like without her by my side. She was my first teammate, and she’s been my teammate ever since and we’ve you become great friends.  I’m going to miss seeing her at the racetrack. I’m going to miss our conversations, and the sport is going to feel her absence. I don’t know if everyone quite understands the impact that she has on the sport. I go to appearances with her, and people lose their mind to see Britney Force. So yeah, it’s going be different. I’m not looking forward to not having her by my side signing autographs and cracking jokes. It’s going to be different, but change is good sometimes and I’m excited for what’s coming in her life because she’s going to be a great mother.”
